Our Story
150 years farming. 38 years winemaking.
One family vision.
The Vineyard
Spring Vale Vineyard sits on Tasmania’s tranquil Freycinet Coast, where cool maritime breezes and ancient soils create the region’s celebrated terroir. Our vineyards were established in 1986, adapting historic farmland into rows of vines with carefully chosen varieties for the site.
The landscape is a living canvas of seasons, where each vintage is shaped by the Tasmanian climate and the passion of the Lyne family, now passing on their stewardship to a new generation. Our approach to grape growing is hands-on, sustainable, and deeply connected to the local environment.
Our Heritage
For more than 35 years, Spring Vale has grown from humble beginnings into one of Tasmania’s premium family-owned vineyards.
The property itself traces its roots to 1875, transitioning from sheep pastures to vine rows thanks to five generations of the Lyne family.
Every bottle tells the story of persistence, evolution, and local knowledge, values embedded in the estate’s heritage buildings and cherished seasonal rituals. Guests who visit are welcomed not just to a vineyard, but to a living tradition where hospitality and authenticity remain at the heart of every experience.
Winemaking Philosophy & Ethos
Spring Vale’s winemaking is a blend of tradition and modern insight. Our philosophy centers on integrity, sustainability, and the celebration of terroir.
We believe in minimal intervention and close attention to detail: from gentle fruit handling to careful selections of yeast and oak, each decision aims to highlight the natural flavors and textural complexity inherent to Tasmanian fruit.
This ethos is guided by experience, balancing innovation with a respectful, honest approach that prioritises quality, consistency, and the best possible expression of each vintage.
The Team
At Spring Vale, the strength of our wines depends on the dedication and character of our people. Led by Tim Lyne and supported by a small group of talented winemakers, hospitality staff, and family members, our team brings diverse skills and genuine warmth to both the cellar and visitor experience.
Every member shares an enthusiasm for Tasmanian wine and a commitment to welcoming guests as old friends. Whether hosting tastings, tending vines, or ensuring each bottle reaches its full potential, the Spring Vale team embodies the spirit of tradition and progress that sets us apart.
